Got Motivation?

What is motivation?  What are the psychological motivators and how do they affect us?  How is motivation influenced by the educational system and how does that explain the lack of motivation in American High Schools?  How can this data be combined with the science of motivation to improve motivation and, in turn, learning and productivity in schools?
